I haven't used a knife block because they all seemed to have very specific shapes, whereas I have several knives in the same shape. I've been looking for something versatile like this and saw it on my niece's shower registry. I ordered this for myself and love it. The slots are wide enough to hold two knives, facing opposite directions. There are approximately 30 slots, but most of my knives are too wide to be placed directly next to another, but you can stagger them using both sides of the block. I am comfortably storing 15 knives, a sharpener and a kitchen scissors in the block. I'm very happy with this.

This is a great block if you have a variety of assorted knives rather than one specific set. I got one for my daughter who loved it so then I bought one for my vacation home. It is inexpensive and does the trick!

For the short time I used it as a knife block, it worked wonderfully. But then I moved and needed to repurpose the block. I removed the insert the knives go into, and use it now for my other cooking utensils (spoons, spatulas, whisks). If my next kitchen allows for the space, I may return to using it as a knife block, as it was exactly what I was looking for, but for now it works beautifully for my utensils

Attractive, sturdy, and holds a ton of knives. Ours is currently holding 8 knives of different sizes, one pizza cutter, one sharpening rod, and two pairs of scissors, with room left over. Best solution I've come across so far for holding kitchen knives.

I didn't end up keeping this knife block but that was unrelated to the quality of the product. The bamboo felt smooth and was attractive. The knife slots were well made and sturdy. Overall this product met my expectations based on the photos and descriptions online, which can be rare these days.
